Revitalization of the African Cinematheque in Ouagadougou: a training site to complete the heritage inventory
The General Delegation of FESPACO in partnership with Archivistes sans frontières France and Burkina organized a training camp at the African Cinematheque in Ouagadougou from September 19 to 30, 2022. The objective of this work was to process, document and store the archives of the African Cinematheque of Ouagadougou (CAO). Volunteer supervisors from Archivistes sans frontières France and Burkina, students from Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines-Paris-Saclay University in Versailles, the National School of Administration and Magistracy ( ENAM), the Regional Institute of Administration (IRA), Norbert ZONGO University of Koudougou (UNZK). Under the terms of the work:
- 355 35mm films and 549 16mm films were codified and stored in the CAD preservation room
- 747 posters (films, festivals and others) were processed, documented, organized in an Excel database and arranged on shelves according to their codification
- part of the administrative archives relating to several FESPACO departments have been processed and stored.
This work has allowed a professional organization of a large part of the CAD archives.
